Around the Bay

It’s been a while since I completed my 40Km bike ride around Melbourne City so i’ve decided to team up with a few guys from work and attempt a 100Km ride.

I haven’t really been back on the bike due to the weather and lack of motivation but this will do the trick.  I have until the 18th October to get into shape and learn to ride on the busy roads.  It will be a beautiful and scenic ride as the full 100Km will be along side the Bay, lets hope the weather is good and not windy.  If anyone has any helpful tips please pass them on.

Feel free to check out the route I think i will get some road tyres for my bike just to get less friction on the road.  “Every little helps”  You’ll see that i’m not acutually doing the full ride, 250Km is more than what i can endure; maybe next year for that.

This is a yearly event to raise money this year we will be raising money for the Smith Family who help disadvantaged Aussie kids.  Feel free to sponsor me

Melbourne Summer Cycle

Every year Melbourne has a bicycle marathon to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Charity.  It’s 40km which works out to be just shy of 25 miles, what have I let myself in for?  The last time I was on bike, was about 5 years ago with the chaps from Polymer Laboratories.  I had fallen so far behind that I got lost and took the wrong turn, ended up in a field full of cows and so exhausted that when I drank my water it all came rushing back out.  OK so I’m no fitter now than I was back then, but I will do this :)

I have until the 22nd February to get in shape.  I’m not that worried because it is a family event for all ages so I think we have about 5 hours to complete the course.  Accompanying me on this trek will be Asar who will have is work cut out for him motivating me.  Hopefully we can make some time and get some training session together.

If anyone would like to sponsor me and help the MS society follow is this link and click DONATE

Melbourne Grand Prix

Hamilton wins grand prix

Its Sunday morning and Dal and I are a bit worse for wear. Well what do you expect? We went on a bender the night before. The occasion? Was there one? We just need an excuse these days. Oh yeah… we went to Kate’s birthday bash, her Hen night and Gerald’s Stag. These two love birds are getting hitched sometime soon. However the guest of honour was James, Gerald’s best friend from London. Many jokes were told, piss was taken out of others and pints went down smooth in the 35°C heat. Plenty of fun was to be had and it felt like we were home with our British/English friends and mostly the British sense of humour was on form.  Sitting in the Riverland pub on the edge of the Yaara River :)

Grand Prix morning, Dal and I met up with G and James, at the Transport pub at Federation Square… but where else. It’s about two in the afternoon and the sun is steaming and baking us in 41°C  this is one of those times you wish you brought a spare pair of undies. The crack of my ass was steaming.

KFC Twenty 20 Ind Vs Aus

It’s Friday 1st February 2008 and we are all exited to see the twenty 20 cricket match between India and Australia.  It’s mine and Dals first cricket match, and as cricket is so boring we thought the 20/20 would be a good introduction to the sport.

Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is an awesome venue and the game was sponsored by KFC.  The KFC aroma surrounded the ground and it felt like we were sitting inside a family bucket.  Not much fun if your a vegetarian but it was about as fun as the game got.  The seating was mixed, so Ozzies and Indians weren’t segregated like they are for football matches.  I think it would have been more of a buzz if all the Indian supporters sat together.

Cancer Research

BalA huge well done to Bal for completing a 10k run at Weston Park in aid of Cancer Research.  I am sure I speak for all of the unfit couchers in the family, in saying we are very proud of you.  This is a superb personal achievement and so I had to write a blog on it, congratulations :)

If you could kindly give us your account of the day… all I know is that Amy, Pav, Amrun and Ranbir were there to support you.  Tell us how many runners were there and where you finished. How much you raised and how much was raised in total by the other runners. What did you do to prepare (if anything, as we all know you are super fit anyway)!   Please sponsor Bal, if you haven’t already, http://www.10ksponsorme.org/baldishdhillon.

Also, Ranbir let me know that there are additional pictures to those of her Flickr at the following location www.peakeventphotos.com, these weren’t added last time I checked.  Enjoy these when you guys get a chance.  Once again, well done.
