Update

We are alone now. We have lost contact with everyone is the UK but we continue, onward and upward! What have we been doing in during the last couple of days?  Breaking our arms and legs thats what.  We’ve been trudging back and forth from the ‘Big W’ (sell just about everything, UK’s equivalent store would be Wilkinsons), Safeway and our apartment. The funniest thing I can tell you was getting the bed.  We have decided to buy an aerobed (inflateable) for now, we’ll get the real thing when we have our own place.  Anyway, we went to the shopping centre picked up the aerobed, which wasn’t very light… went downstairs to Big W and brought a duvet, bed sheets, duvet cover and pillows.  Got back to the apartment and thought we’d set up the bed… it blew up in less than a minute but to our dismay it looked a little small… we checked the size and it was a double… hmmm then it clicked.

Unemployed and Homeless

cakeWell we made it… and the flight was no where near as bad as the goodbyes.  A huge thank you to all of you for all your kind words and best wishes. For all the cards (even the hidden ones), the presents and the sentiments… we were touched to say the least. Thank you to Amy, Pav and Amrun for the gifts they made, we have bought them with us and will put them up when we have our own place.  Thanks also to Ranbir for baking us the goodbye cake, shame we couldn’t bring that with us. We were still reading heart warming text messages from you all as we boarded the plane… I knew it would be a tearful goodbye but i never imagined it would hurt so much…

11 days to go…

Boeing 777-200Well the date we fly out is getting ever closer.  Nervous?  Nah, not even had time to think about it.  In fact we’ve been having leaving party after leaving party and seeing relatives and friends that we haven’t seen in a while.  It’s been good fun and a little sad at the same time.  We continue to get asked the same questions, “Where are you going to stay?”, “Have you found a job yet?”, “Have you packed?” etc and the shock looks at our replies of “Don’t know”, “Find one when I get there”, and ,”Not yet”, are comical.  The world is such a small place now and I am thinking of this trip more as a long holiday than anything else.

Of course I will miss family and friends but then with webcams and e-mail its easier to communicate.  When our parents emigrated from India back in the 60’s snail mail was the only form of communication and it would take over a week to get correspondence! (and that was only for those of them that could read and write!).

So when’s the next leaving party???

Sipgate VoIP

logo

This is an article on the reasoning why I opted to use Sipgate for my VoIP services. The following are my personal experiences on setup and use. I haven’t gone into too much depth in this article because I am using Sipgate as a basic service, allowing me to call from Oz and allowing others who do not have an internet connection to call me at a local call rate. Please visit Sipgate for full details on costing and use.

So you know by now that I’m emigrating to Oz but how do my tenants keep in touch with me? And more to the more point how do I keep in touch with them, from across the world, without paying crazy prices. (more…)

G’day mate

So finally its happend, our very own site in this new virtual world.  For many years now i’ve been browsing the web mainly for shopping and general help from DIY projects to computer hair pulling problems.  Never really posted on forums or actively taken part in blogging but that’s all about to change.  Change is always a good thing if your not afraid.
