Surprise!
Got our tickets booked for the UK! Wahoooo. Really looking forward to it, especially as no one over there knows… not even Parm who always has a vague idea of our travel plans :) It took some doing though. I wasn’t sure if I would have a job, if not then could we afford it, if I did get one would let me have the time off… so many if’s, but it worked out in the end. It was just meant to be.
Had some trouble finding the tickets and we were getting quoted ridiculous prices. The first travel centre I went to one morning, couldn’t even find me a single flight. “We just don’t have any flights to bring you back in January”, “I can get you $4000 a ticket for 2 weeks”, was the best she could offer me and this is one of the biggest travel agents around. She didn’t seem interested and didn’t even bother punching in different airlines.
So feeling like she just didn’t want to help I moved on to the next place. The lady in STA Travel was just so helpful. She took her time, considered different airlines, different dates and really listened to what I wanted. She soon found me a flight and it was a reasonable price for that time too but it included a one night stop off in Shanghai. Got home told Rum and we decided to book, even thought about having a couple of days to check out Shanghai.
The next day, the travel agent rings me up and tells me she has found me even better flights, less stoppage time in Hong Kong and they are cheaper! What more could you ask for from a travel agent? Rum and I booked the next day.
Do you know how difficult it is talking to you (well Aman, Parm and Pally) and not being able to tell you that we will be there for Christmas? Sometimes we think maybe we should tell someone… but then we think the surprise will be great. We have bets that dad’s reaction will be the funniest. Of course, I can’t put this post up either until we get to the UK! See you all there.

Yes Guys, it was a shock indeed, I had just summoned Amy into the dining room and was about to give her one of my lectures on her homework and there was a knock on the door! Rum was peering through the window! I was gob smacked to say the least, it’s great to see you both and I’m sure we’ll all have a very MERRY Christmas and even better new year!!

Like everyone else dad was totally bemused. He couldn’t comprehend what he was seeing. It was lots of fun and worth every minute for everyone we got.

What a great surprise I can’t put into words just how I felt, I had just come back from collecting Armun from School, 5 minutes later Bally came home early from work and the door bell rings, there’s an unexpected Amy standing there, saying she has come with her mum who was just turning the car around, at this time I was a bit confused anyway thinking what are they doing here normally I know if Bal is coming, well anyway we come in and the door bell rings again I open the door and to my astonishment Rum and Dal are standing there as large as life!! I was totally shocked, dazed and confused even more. There they both are just standing there, I’m thinking is it them or am I dreaming!!! Then reality kicks in they are here I start hugging them, at this point I am in tears of happiness and shaking from the shock of it all. You guys have given me the best Christmas present ever, thankyou for coming our Christmas and New Year has been made complete by having you both here with us!!!! Every Christmas this will be the talk of when you both surprised us!! Looking forward to the New Year’s bash it’s bound to be a good one now that the party animals are here!!!

Well the day has come you are returning to OZ. Thank you both for coming, what can I say had a fab Christmas, enjoyed the get to gether at Grimsby and a fantastic start to the New Year, will cherish these precious memories forever. Speak to you soon, once you have rested from the journey.
