Our Patch of Grass

plotWell as some of you aware we are in the process of getting a house built here in Oz.   When we first came here and looked around the city for accommodation the prices almost gave us heart attacks.  However as we looked around we discovered, as with all places, the further away from the city you get, the cheaper the land and property gets too.  So having spoken to a mortgage advisor and getting some details on what is where, what we can afford etc etc, we decided to visit a display village (what they call show homes). Actually before we went we brought ourselves a map of Melbourne and after lots of post it notes, train timetables and internet browsing we came across Craigieburn.  We found the land is relatively cheaper here, a whole new housing estate is being built with new train station and even a new shopping mall is to be built (which has been in the pipeline for the last 3 years).

Happy Birthday Rum

Baby RumWell I think you all already know its Rum’s birthday as your well wishes are already coming in.  Rum has turned 32,  he doesn’t look a day over 20.  Some special gene that you Dhaliwals have, you all look younger than you are!  Bal, Manjit, Rum to name but a few.  Oh and you guys also have the sweet tooth gene, those of you who have it really bad are Rum, Pally, Ranbir, Kin and most of all Jassy!

We aren’t planning anything special just another quiet night in, not found any drinking partners yet! We will be thinking of the bottles we could have been sharing with Dav!  Yeah, Happy birthday to Davinder too… 25 today, marriage is looking imminent!  All of you have a couple of glassi’s from us and thanks for all the birthday wishes… maybe next year we’ll be together???

Cancer Research

BalA huge well done to Bal for completing a 10k run at Weston Park in aid of Cancer Research.  I am sure I speak for all of the unfit couchers in the family, in saying we are very proud of you.  This is a superb personal achievement and so I had to write a blog on it, congratulations :)

If you could kindly give us your account of the day… all I know is that Amy, Pav, Amrun and Ranbir were there to support you.  Tell us how many runners were there and where you finished. How much you raised and how much was raised in total by the other runners. What did you do to prepare (if anything, as we all know you are super fit anyway)!   Please sponsor Bal, if you haven’t already, http://www.10ksponsorme.org/baldishdhillon.

Also, Ranbir let me know that there are additional pictures to those of her Flickr at the following location www.peakeventphotos.com, these weren’t added last time I checked.  Enjoy these when you guys get a chance.  Once again, well done.
