Victoria Market

Victoria MarketThought we’d make a trip to Victoria Market today to see what its all about. I used to love going to the one in Wolves and going to this one certainly brought back some memories. We used the tourist shuttle bus to get there, this runs every day from 10 till 4 and is completely free. The market was huge. We have never seen such a variety of different fruit and veg and some of the sizes were humungous. The celery, apples, mangoes, water melons make the ones in the UK look like kids toy pieces! Some of the fruit and veg we didn’t even know what it was. We didn’t take the camera with us but next time I go I will do and will show you guys some of the stuff. Almost forgot to mention that the prices were excellent. Its the first time we have found something that is cheaper and fresher than in the UK.

It took us a good couple of hours just to get round the fruit and veg section, and then there was another section on takeaway food, cheese (yes Manjit a whole market on cheese alone. We thought of you when wandering around this section) and some really weird Italian meats. We brought a hot dog from here and stood in the sunshine to get the feeling back in our fingers, it wasn’t as good as a Wolves town centre one.
Moving on from this section was the seafood, pet food and meat section, from which we walked in and walked out! The meat was again in huge quantities, seafood that again we couldn’t identify eyes and tentacles everywhere! We thought we’d go back there if we were going to buy something, no point in feeling sick for no reason.
Back in the general market we saw things that reminded us of all of you. The huge Avocados - Baldish, you wouldn’t be able to finish one whole. The bananas in pyjamas teddy, we thought of massi immediately. If you don’t know the story then ask Dav or Kin, it will surely put a smile on your face! We thought about how dad would be so impressed with the sizes of the fruit and veg.
Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal pictures were in a stall of their own but Liverpool haven’t been spotted yet. There was even a sweet shop on the corner that made its own rock. You can watch them make it and sample a few tasters while standing around. As you may already have imagined Rum helped himself :)
