It sounds to me like you're having problems with your softphone. One of the great things about sipgate is that you can use it with a hardware device, even public wireless networks which you are permitted to access.

I have been using the service for a month or so now. I have set up a group of friends with the same, and have encountered a variety of scenarios. The most extreme case was a user that "downgraded" from Vista to XP because although X-Lite worked correctly under Vista, the hardware USB Cyberphone he purchased did not, and required XP. All of these problems are the free software packacge though, not the VoIP service.

Can you give more details on the call faults you received? And how did sipgate support react?

Yep the storey of my life. "an error has occured"

I would not recommend sipgate to any user.

I will try and get to the bottom of this but until then, do not use this service.

Have you tried using voipfone.co.uk? I used it a few years ago, and the quality needed some work, which appararently they have done now - it might be worth a try.

Recently I have not been happy with Sipgates service. OK I know they offer a "free" service but they have so many intermintent faults and problems. One day Sipgate is working fine with good quality audio the next you can't even connect to an outside like not even another Sipgate user.

What can you do? you can't just keep jumping from one VoIP to another. I like Sipgate because of the number they provide. Well lets hope they fix their problems and solve mine.

Now that I am now in Melbourne I topped up my sipgate account so that I could make calls to other networks outside sipgate. Topping up was simple I used my PayPal account for this.

I have successfully made and received calls from UK landline numbers and received calls and text messages from UK mobile phones.

I am currently using WiFi internet access at the hotel. I was very surprised with the quality of the call and very little lag time I am very happy with sipgates performance and services and would highly recommend them to others.
